The Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) and Homeowner Associations
Homeowner Associations need to be held to the Corporate Transparency Act to protect homeowners from abusive, illegal, and criminal behavior. This page contains information for understanding the CTA and what it does, as well as resources for advocating to hold HOAs to comply with it.
In fairness, I have also added CAI's response to the CTA
and their argument for exempting HOAs from it.

As of 3/25/25, all articles indicate that the CTA/BOI requirements will only apply to
foreign or international companies. At this time, it seems the matter has been concluded with HOAs eluding this mechanism of accountability -- for now.

Why Should HOAs Be Held to The CTA?
Deborah Goonan, of Independent American Communities, wrote an excellent blog article on Feb. 11, 2025 which is a concise, intelligent, reasoned, and highly supported argument for why HOAs NEED to be held to the CTA. CAI and others are trying to argue that HOAs are "low risk entities" for crime and fraud (a claim that makes the jaw of anyone in the HOA know hit the ground). Deborah is a highly knowledgeable advocate for homeowner rights who has been active for a decade. I also recommend her podcast interview with USCFAR found HERE for more on her, her work, and for a lively and informative discussion.
